Abstract

A high-speed driver for a coherent optical transmitter includes multiple channels, each channel configured to combine slices of an electrical signal into an orthogonal component of a coherent light signal to be transmitted by the coherent optical transmitter, a calibration loop configured to measure a respective latency of each of the slices of the electrical signal, and a plurality of programmable delays configured to receive the respective latency of each of the slices and compensate differences between the respective latencies of each of the slices by adjusting delays of the slices to combine outputs of the channels into a single wavelength of the coherent light signal to be transmitted by the coherent optical transmitter.
