Abstract
A method placing carbon dioxide in a subterranean zone includes disposing into a wellbore drilled into a subterranean zone a mixture comprising guanidinium-based clathrate particles, and flowing the mixture downhole through the wellbore and thence into the subterranean zone, thereby placing in the subterranean zone carbon dioxide released from decomposition of the clathrate.
