Abstract
A melt infiltration apparatus for a ceramic matrix composite (CMC) component. The melt infiltration apparatus includes a crucible. The crucible configured to contain a volume of molten silicon that infiltrates the CMC component during a melt infiltration process. The volume of molten silicon fills the crucible to a defined liquid level in the crucible. A first stabilizer is configured to mechanically support the CMC component from a first side and a second stabilizer is configured to mechanically support the CMC component from a second side opposite the first side. The first stabilizer and the second stabilizer are configured to suspend the CMC component above the liquid level during the melt infiltration process.
