Abstract

The present disclosure is directed to a molybdenum iron composition that includes 55 to 60 weight percent MoFe, 33 to 37 weight percent MoFe, and 5 to 10 weight percent MoObased on the total weight of the composition. The composition is in the form of nanosheets. A nanocomposite membrane including the molybdenum iron composition is also provided. The nanocomposite membrane includes 0.01 to 0.5% molybdenum iron composition by weight uniformly distributed in a polyvinylidene fluoride polymeric matrix based on a total weight of the nanocomposite membrane. The nanocomposite membrane of the present disclosure finds application in filtration of a contaminated feed mixture and for generating hydrogen.
