Abstract

A video stream packager accesses an encoded video stream that includes a plurality of encoded frames generated by an encoder from a source video stream, the encoded video stream including a plurality of original presentation timestamps that identify times that corresponding encoded frames of the plurality of encoded frames are to be presented on a display device. The video stream packager detects a break indicator signal that identifies a future time that the presentation of encoded frames from the encoded video stream is to be halted for a period of time. The video stream packager identifies an encoded frame that corresponds to the future time. The video stream packager stores the encoded frame and a predetermined value as a new presentation timestamp in place of the corresponding original presentation timestamp of the encoded frame in a segment file that has a name that includes the predetermined value.
