Abstract
A digital promotion processing system may include a digital promotions server, and a near field communication (NFC) tag. The NFC tag may be encoded with a tag identifier associated with a digital promotion. A shopper device may include an NFC tag reader cooperating with a controller to, upon the shopper device being adjacent the NFC tag, wirelessly obtain the tag identifier, and communicate the tag identifier to the server. The server may determine the digital promotion associated with the tag identifier, and determine whether the shopper is associated with a loyalty program, and when not, cooperate with the shopper device to prompt the shopper to join the loyalty program, and upon joining the loyalty program, save the digital promotion to a digital wallet. The server may, when the shopper is associated with the loyalty program, save the digital promotion to the digital wallet without prompting the shopper.
