Abstract
A method for classifying an alternating current (AC) electric power source powering a first node of a communication network after an apparent conclusion of a power outage. The method includes (1) receiving, at a classification system, measurement data from a sensor that is transmitted to the classification system via the communication network, and (2) comparing, at the classification system, (i) a portion of the measurement data generated by the sensor before a power outage of an AC electric power grid at a location of the sensor and (ii) a portion of the measurement data generated by the sensor after an apparent conclusion of the power outage of the AC electric power grid at the location of the sensor, to determine whether first node is being powered by a generator or by the AC electric power grid, after the apparent conclusion of the power outage.
