Abstract

A method for providing a coated metal surface includes etching a metal surface with an etching solution comprising an oxidizing ion provide an etched metal surface; coating at least a portion of the etched metal surface with a liquid composition comprising a polymer, a prepolymer and a crosslinking agent, or a combination thereof to provide a polymeric coating on the etched metal surface; and drying or curing the polymeric coating to form a coated metal surface. The liquid composition may further include a plurality of nanoparticles.
