Abstract
A wearable device is used to determine a glucose value for a portion of a user's body based on carbon dioxide emitted from the skin at the location of the wearable device. The device housing includes openings for carbon dioxide emitted by the user to enter and exit and may control accumulation of carbon dioxide within the housing using a valve, or allow carbon dioxide in the housing to reach an equilibrium value before determining a glucose value. Other sensors may be used to determine physiological or environmental factors, such as ambient carbon dioxide or increased respiration of the user, responsive to which a modifier may be applied to the determined glucose value.
