Abstract
In a method, a first message indicating a switch from a direct path to an indirect path is received, and a first timer is started. Expiration of the first timer triggers radio resource control (RRC) re-establishment. A first signal is received on a sidelink after starting the first timer and before expiration of the first timer, and the first timer is stopped in response to receiving the first signal. A second message providing feedback of the first message is transmitted. The first message is transmitted via the direct path, and the second message is transmitted via the indirect path. The first and second messages are RRC messages, and the second message is relayed by a transmitter of the first signal. Receipt of the first message and the first signal enables a path switch.
