Abstract
An Ethernet Physical Layer (PHY) device for use in an Ethernet communication system includes a receiver, an Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) detector and a slicer controller. The receiver is configured to receive an Ethernet signal from a physical Ethernet link. The receiver includes a slicer configured to convert the received signal into a sequence of demodulated symbols by comparing samples of the signal to one or more decision thresholds. The EMI detector is configured to detect EMI that distorts the received signal. The slicer controller is configured to adjust at least a decision threshold among the one or more decision thresholds of the slicer, relative to the samples of the signal, responsively to the detected EMI.
