Abstract
The present embodiments relate to write head designs with metal layers at sides of an assist device to improve heat conductance so that the temperature rise inside and around the assist device becomes lower. The designs can also allow additional current into the assist device to maximize the assist. In some instances, a set of insulator layers are disposed between the assist device and the metal layers. In other instances, an additional metal layer can be disposed between the insulator layers and the assist device to enhance the charge current induced assist of the write head.
