Abstract
As part of a location-based experience, multiple users share a virtual world whose frame of reference is correlated to a real world position and orientation. Each user begins real-time tracking of their relative movements, and takes relative angle and distance measurements to other users with detection devices without relying on an absolute positioning system. This forms a graph of real-world user alignments that can be mirrored to place each user viewpoint in the virtual world, such that every real and virtual user interaction seem aligned. Then, physical user movement continues to be tracked, updating virtual user viewpoints. Users may have separate virtual world correlations into the real world. Should those correlations become unaligned, they can be realigned, either smoothly or abruptly, and sometimes with users needing to physically relocate.
