Abstract

A performance bottleneck may form during high traffic scenarios in a CXL fabric. Performance bottleneck may lead to inefficient or inaccurate P2P CXL communications of system components. Sync-point operations, where new data is validated to have indeed been written to the CXL memory, help avoid the inaccuracies but are expensive to perform as it adds extra traffic and latency on the host interface. A data storage device for improving the timing of sync points includes performing a sync-point operation after the last transaction of posted write commands. In some embodiments, the sync-point operations are performed based on a determination of various conditions of the storage system. In some embodiments, the sync-point operations are performed via sending a deferrable memory write request (DMWr) or an unordered I/O (UIO) write command.
