Abstract

A wrist-worn electronic device comprises a lower housing, an upper housing, an electrically non-conductive element, a first antenna and a location determining element. The lower housing includes a molded cover and an outer portion. The molded cover includes a first portion composed of an electrically conductive material, a second portion composed of an electrically non-conductive material and a surface having two electrical ground locations. The upper housing opposes the molded cover, includes a bezel formed of an electrically conductive material and has two electrical ground locations electrically coupled to the two electrical ground locations on the surface of the molded cover. The second portion of the molded cover substantially electrically shields the first antenna from the outer portion of the lower housing. The outer portion of the lower housing may be composed of a non-homogenous material, such as carbon fiber, or a homogenous material, such as titanium.
