Abstract
Methods and apparatus managing energy release in energetic perforating devices, such as perforating guns, for example. In some embodiments, the methods comprise deploying the energetic perforating device having an explosive into a wellbore, removing air from an interior volume of the energetic perforating device, placing the energetic perforating device into the wellbore, and forming a perforation in the wellbore with the energetic perforating device by detonating the explosive, wherein the removing of the air limits reaction of the explosive.
