Abstract

Device for restoring the mechanical integrity of casing or production tubing in hydrocarbon wells with diameters of less than 4.5 inches. The device includes: a First Section (I) having a lower mechanical anchor; a Second Section (II) having a lower packer; a Third Section (III) having an upper connector; a Fourth Section (IV) having a plurality of longitudinally hollow cylindrical mechanical elements; a Fifth Section (V) having a finishing tool connector; a Sixth Section (VI) having an upper mechanical anchor; and a Seventh Section (VII) having an upper packer. A system including the device is disclosed for use in providing a permanent and resilient seal over splits, perforations and/or holes in the tubing. Procedures for evaluating the effectiveness of the device in a hydrocarbon well, recovering the device from a hydrocarbon well, and installing the device in a hydrocarbon well are disclosed.
