Abstract
Methods, systems, and apparatuses are provided for initial transmission and retransmission of sidelink reference signals in a wireless communication system, wherein a method of first device comprises receiving a configuration of a first sidelink resource pool dedicated for sidelink reference signal transmission, receiving a first sidelink grant, from a network node, for scheduling first one or more sidelink resources in the first sidelink resource pool, wherein the first one or more sidelink resources comprise a first one sidelink resource and first one or more remaining sidelink resources, if any, determining, in response to the received first sidelink grant, the first one sidelink resource being required to be utilized for an initial transmission or a new transmission of a sidelink reference signal, selecting a first destination for the initial transmission or the new transmission of the sidelink reference signal, determining, in response to the received first sidelink grant, the first one or more remaining sidelink resources, if any, being required to be utilized for one or more retransmissions of the sidelink reference signal for the selected first destination, and performing the initial transmission or the new transmission of the sidelink reference signal and the one or more retransmissions of the sidelink reference signal, if any.
