Abstract
In general, according to one embodiment, a nonaqueous electrolyte battery is provided. The nonaqueous electrolyte battery includes an electrode group, including a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and a separator. The separator includes at least one metal-element containing portion containing a metal element. The at least one metal-element containing portion is provided on a surface of the separator in contact with the negative electrode. The at least one metal-element containing portion contains at least one selected from a group consisting of a metal, a metallic oxide, and a metallic fluoride. An area of the at least one metal-element containing portion is in a range of 0.3 mmto 3.2 mm.
