Abstract

Sky obstructions that may affect satellite communication are determined using images acquired at a proposed antenna location. Images capturing a different portion of a scene are combined to provide a representation of the sky. Images acquired at different camera poses are processed by an augmented reality (AR) module to determine a plurality of AR markers for each image. Each AR marker represents a particular point in space in a virtual field-of-view (VFOV) and has a unique identifier. A plurality of common AR markers between an image and the VFOV allow a relationship between the two to be determined. Images may be processed individually before projection, such as to determine segmentation data. The image or resulting segmentation data may then be projected, using the relationship, onto the VFOV forming combined data. The combined data may be processed to determine sky obstructions that would affect line-of-sight communication.
