Abstract
A scheduling iteration with respect to a resource pool and a queue of tasks is conducted. Each task has a share identifier. A set of currently-in-use share identifiers is identified from the queued and running tasks. Using a fairness parameter, a first subset of the resource pool which is to be reserved for assignment to tasks with share identifiers that are not currently in use is determined. One or more resources of a second subset of the pool are assigned to tasks selected from the queue based on their respective share identifiers.
