Abstract

Automated triggers for obtaining code suggestions may predicted for development environments. When characters are received to add to a code file, metadata describing the context of the code file for adding the received characters and past code suggestion behavior for a user of the development environment may be determined as input features for a machine learning model trained to predict whether to automatically trigger obtaining a code suggestion. If an auto trigger prediction is determined, then a generative machine learning model may be invoked to generate a code suggestion for a user and the code suggestion provided via an interface of the development environment.
