Abstract
A military vehicle includes a tractive assembly, and a controller. A first axle assembly includes a first tractive element. A first motor is coupled to the first tractive element across a first gear ratio. A second axle assembly includes a second tractive element. A second motor is coupled to the second tractive element across a second gear ratio. The controller is operably coupled to the tractive assembly and configured to shift the tractive assembly between a first mode and a second mode in response to a speed of the military vehicle exceeding a speed threshold. The controller is configured to engage the first motor in the first mode and thereafter engage the second motor in the second mode such that the tractive assembly is configured to drive the military vehicle in one of the first gear ratio and the second gear ratio based on the speed of the military vehicle.
