Abstract
A computing device for map generation and vehicle position estimation. The device can generate a periphery map using environment information and movement information. The device can extract, from the periphery map, partial maps. The device can determine a coordinate conversion parameter for each partial map to generate a converted partial map aligned with a reference map. The device can compute, based on coordinate conversion parameters, a gap parameter including information regarding a correlation between the coordinate conversion parameters adjacent to each other. The device can generate a new partial map for a region corresponding to the converted partial map based on an offset between a converted partial map and the reference map being greater than or equal to a threshold. The device can generate, based on a vehicle location, a continuous map by connecting the new partial map with at least one adjacent converted partial map using the gap parameter.
