Abstract
A blood sampling device comprising a housing having an aperture in a forward end thereof and defining a passage having a longitudinal axis, a lancet comprising a lancet body supporting a lancet tip at a forward end thereof, said lancet being moveably mounted within said housing, an urging member configured to urge said lancet forwardly in said housing in use from a primed position in which said lancet tip is located within said passage to a lancing position in which said lancet tip projects through said aperture in said forward end of said housing and a removable safety cap configured to at least partially cover said lancet tip in said passage in an initial assembled configuration. The housing and said safety cap comprise cooperating abutment surfaces and cooperating stop surfaces, with the safety cap being rotatable in a first direction relative to said passage from a first blocked position.
