Abstract
A patient transfer device for moving a patient from a first surface to a receiving surface includes a retractable pulling wire, a motorized pulling arrangement, and a holder arrangement for holding a sheet or mattress. The holder arrangement has a holder element attached to a first end of the pulling wire. The pulling arrangement retracts the wire, moving the holder arrangement and holder element holding a sheet or mattress towards the pulling arrangement, thereby transferring the patient. A proximity sensor detects if the holder element reaches an end position near the pulling arrangement.
