Abstract
System information status is dynamically adjusted at a base station (e.g., a 5G gNB) from not broadcasting other system information block(s) to broadcasting, and vice versa, based on network condition data to improve network performance. When a sufficient number of user equipment devices are expected to transition from idle to connected mode, the base station broadcasts additional system information beyond minimum system information (e.g., SIB1) previously transmitted on-demand. A core network component can initiate the change, with the updated SIB1 data periodically broadcast to user equipment. A paging message is transmitted to instruct user equipment to process the updated SIB1 data. The system can revert to not broadcasting other system information when the network determines that broadcasting is unnecessary.
