Abstract
A wireless communication device includes a multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) antenna array having a plurality of dual-polarized antennas configured to receive radio frequency (RF) signals in vertical and horizontal polarizations across a plurality of frequency bands. The device further includes a radio frequency (RF) frontend coupled to the MIMO antenna array. The RF frontend applies band-specific filtering to isolate signals-of-interest and down-converts and digitizes the signals-of-interest to predefined intermediate frequencies to obtain digitized down-converted signals. The device further includes a processor configured to determine signal characteristics of the digitized down-converted signals across a first intermediate frequency band and a second intermediate frequency band based on spatial analysis. The signal characteristics comprise temporal signal properties, spatial properties from MIMO antenna inputs, and polarization properties corresponding to vertical and horizontal components.
