Abstract
A cooperative orbital object identification system is disclosed herein that comprises an identification station and at least one tagged orbital object, i.e. an orbital object with a retroreflecting identification tag mounted thereon. The retroreflecting identification tag comprises a spectral filter having a surface area partitioned into respective surface area portions having respective, mutually different spectral characteristics. In this way it is rendered possible to distinguish a tagged orbital object from a potentially large set of tagged orbital object in an efficient way that does not need an energy source in the orbital object.
