Abstract

The present invention relates to an oxygen carrier solid, to the preparation thereof and to the use thereof in a chemical looping redox process such as chemical looping combustion (CLC). The solid in particulate form includes a total copper content (X) ranging from 5% to 39% expressed as CuO by weight relative to the total weight of the solid in its oxidized form, and a ceramic matrix within which said copper is dispersed, the matrix including a first sub-stoichiometric spinel of formula MgAlO, and/or a second sub-stoichiometric spinel of formula CuMgAlO. The carrier solid includes an amount Y of MgO as a weight percentage of the oxygen carrier solid of between 1% and 23%, and Y<−0.6342X+26.223.
