Abstract
A stereophonic sound image reproducing system includes a sound reproducing apparatus and a vehicle sensor that detects a facial direction of a driver or a traveling direction of a vehicle. Before starting to generate a sound image, the sound reproducing apparatus sets a localization allowable angle range extending from a reference direction that is the facial direction of the driver or the traveling direction of the vehicle, and determines whether an original localization position of the sound image is located within the localization allowable angle range. When the original localization position is determined to be located within the localization allowable angle range, the sound reproducing apparatus starts generating the sound image at the original localization position. When the original localization position is determined not to be located within the localization allowable angle range, the sound reproducing apparatus refrains from generating the sound image at the original localization position.
