Abstract
Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a transmitting device () selects an indication of a seed to be used by a forwarding device (), such as a passive device with a reconfigurable intelligent surface, to generate a configuration for reflecting or forwarding signals. The transmitting device transmits the indication of the seed to the forwarding device (). The transmitting device transmits the signals () to a receiving device via the forwarding device. The transmitting device receives measurements of the signals (). Numerous other aspects are described.
