Abstract
The present invention relates to a medical scan apparatus (), comprising: an input unit (); a processing unit (); and an output unit (). The input unit is configured to provide the processing unit with information regarding the power production capability of one or more power sources (), and wherein a scan of a patient to be carried out by a medical imaging scanner () will utilize at least the one or more power sources. The processing unit is configured to predict the total energy that will be available to the medical imaging scanner over a time period, wherein the prediction comprises utilization of the information regarding the power production capability of the one or more power sources. The processing unit is configured to predict the instantaneous power that will be available to the medical imaging scanner during the time period, wherein the prediction comprises utilization of the information regarding the power production capability of the one or more power sources. The processing unit is configured to select a scan protocol for the medical imaging scanner to carry out the scan of the patient, wherein selection of the scan protocol comprises utilization of the predicted total energy that will be available to the medical imaging scanner over the time period and the predicted instantaneous power that will be available to the medical imaging scanner during the time period. The output unit is configured to provide the scan protocol to the medical imaging scanner.
