Abstract
A hair straightening appliance with an adjustable heat plate includes a first handle and a second handle that are configured for relative movement between an open position for receiving hair therebetween and an approximated position for clamping hair. The first handle and the second handle are each configured to impart a straightening effect on hair when clamped. At least one of the first heating plate and the second heating plate are adjustable. When the first heating plate is adjustable, the first heating plate is selectively mounted rigidly with respect to the first housing or in a partially or fully resiliently mounted manner with respect to the first housing, and, when the second heating plate is adjustable, the second heating plate is selectively mounted rigidly with respect to the second housing or in a partially or fully resiliently mounted manner with respect to the second housing.
