Abstract
A method for defragmentation management, the method includes (a) moving, by a defragmentation process related to a set of database entries, content of a current subset of the set to a next subset of the set; (b) marking the current subset as being moved and linking the current subset to a location of the next subset; (c) receiving a user transaction write request for writing user data related to the current subset, following the moving; (d) writing the user data to the current subset and to the next subset, before the current subset is deleted; and (e) deleting the current subset when a start time of an oldest transaction follows a time of commit of the defragmentation process.
