Abstract
A system includes a host and a memory system, which includes a controller and a memory device including one or more superblocks for storing data. The host sets multiple system performance regions according to data type, on a plane which are formed by two or more system metrics. Each system performance region corresponds to at least one tier among multiple tiers of system requirements. The controller tracks the system metrics for each superblock associated with one or more read operations on the data; determines whether a condition of the system metrics is close to a boundary of a system performance region selected from among the multiple system performance regions, the selected system performance region corresponding to the data; and recycles the superblock when it is determined that the condition of the system metrics is getting close to the boundary of the selected system performance region.
