Abstract
A multifocal ophthalmic lens and methods of manufacture of the same using additive manufacturing. The multifocal lens includes a front surface and a back surface meeting at a peripheral edge, and a lens center; and a plurality of layers of cured polymerizable mixture each having a lower surface and an upper surface, wherein each of the plurality of layers of cured polymerizable mixture other than a first layer is at least partially integrated with the prior layer at its lower surface, and each has a natural, smooth optical interface at its upper surface. The lens has multiple optical qualities within the same optical path. The lens further may be a contact lens or may have an associated optical power for each optical interface of the layers.
