Abstract
A treatment fluid is flowed into a wellbore formed in a subterranean formation. The treatment fluid includes sand and a chemical dissolver configured to react with and dissolve wellbore scale. Ultrasound energy is generated within the wellbore. The generated ultrasound energy is applied to the treatment fluid, generating cavitation in the treatment fluid to facilitate dislodging of the wellbore scale. Applying the generated ultrasound energy generates vibrations in the sand, facilitating abrasive and dislodging action on the wellbore scale. The chemical dissolver is contacted with the wellbore scale, causing the chemical dissolver to react with and dissolve the wellbore scale.
