Abstract

A catheter system () for treating a vascular lesion () within or adjacent to a heart valve () within a body () of a patient (), includes an energy source (), and a plurality of spaced apart treatment devices (). The energy source () generates energy. Each treatment device () includes (i) a balloon () that is positionable substantially adjacent to the vascular lesion (), the balloon () having a balloon wall () that defines a balloon interior (), the balloon () being configured to retain a balloon fluid () within the balloon interior (); and (ii) at least one of a plurality of energy guides (A) that receive energy from the energy source () so that plasma () is formed in the balloon fluid () within the balloon interior ().
