Abstract
A display assembly providing proof of play information is disclosed. Content items, including static content files, each of which comprises a single image for display in each play instance for a period of consecutive seconds, are displayed at electronic display, at least in part by way of a media player. A unit controller causes a cumulative play count for each of the content items to be stored and maintained over time, redundancy check codes to be generated for the content items such that a respective code is consistently generated for each of the content items, and is consistently and consecutively generated for each of the static content items in each of the play instances, and where a consistent redundancy check code is consecutively generated for a respective one of the content items in a respective one of the play instances, cause the play count associated therewith to be incremented.
