A polymer having a structural unit represented by the following general formula (I), a flame-retardant composition comprising the polymer, and a method for producing the polymer. In the general formula (I), Rrepresents any one selected from the group consisting of an alkyl group having 1 to 18 carbon atoms, an alkenyl group having 2 to 18 carbon atoms, and an aralkyl group having 7 to 18 carbon atoms; Rrepresents a hydrogen atom or a methyl group; Rand Reach independently represent any one selected from the group consisting of an alkyl group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms, an alkyloxy group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms, an alkenyl group having 2 to 6 carbon atoms, an alkenyloxy group having 2 to 6 carbon atoms, an aralkyl group having 7 to 12 carbon atoms, an aralkyloxy group having 7 to 12 carbon atoms, an aryl group having 6 to 12 carbon atoms, and an aryloxy group having 6 to 12 carbon atoms, and Rand Rmay be bonded to each other; and n is an integer of 0 to 5.
