Abstract

A compound including a tetradentate ligand, L, is provided. In the compound, Lis coordinated to a metal M selected from Pt, Pd, Cu, Ag, and Au; Lcomprises a first moiety and a second moiety that are different form each other and are independently coordinated to the metal M; the first moiety is a heterocyclic carbene, that is coordinated to the metal M through a metal-carbene bond, while the second moiety is a 5-membered heterocycle; and the ligand Lforms at least one M-O or M-S bond. Formulations, OLEDs, and consumer products containing the compound are also provided.
