Abstract
A lens barrelincludes a fifth lens group unit, a focus ring, an internal gear, a pinion gear, a detection magnet, and a GMR sensor. The internal gearrotates integrally with the focus ringand has a plurality of gear portions. The pinion gearis provided on the inner peripheral surface side of the focus ringand has a gear portionthat mates with the gear portionof the internal gear, and a guide shaftthat is inserted through the center of the gear portion. The guide shaftis inserted through the detection magnet, and the detection magnetrotates integrally with the gear portionand has a magnetized surfaceon which different magnetic poles are alternately magnetized.
