Abstract
A mandrelfor holding an ophthalmic lens member blankduring machining is disclosed. The mandrelhas a front surfacefor receiving an ophthalmic lens member blankto be machined. The front surfacecomprises a planar surface region; a curved surface region; and a drainage channellocated between the curved surface regionand the planar surface regionsuch that wax applied to the curved surface regionflows into the drainage channel. A kit of parts comprising such a mandrel, a method of mounting an ophthalmic lens member blankfor machining, a method of machining an ophthalmic lens member blank, an ophthalmic lens produced using the apparatus and a batch of such lenses are also disclosed.
