Hearing protector with spring element and a carrier

Abstract

In a first aspect, the present disclosure relates to a hearing protectorincluding two earmuffsA,B each with a cushionA,B, a cupA,B and a carrierA,B. The hearing protectorfurther includes a headband, or alternatively two helmet mounts, with two earmuff attachment meansA,B as well as a spring elementA,B. The carrierA,B and the cushionA,B form a first mass-spring system. The cupA,B and the spring elementA,B form a second mass spring system. The spring elementA,B is configured and arranged such that the cupA,B and the carrierA,B are mechanically decoupled from each other. The advantage of such a hearing protectoris that the hearing protectorcan be designed such that the aspects of comfort and noise attenuation can be addressed more independent of each other. Also, the force or pressure applied to the carrier by the headband, or alternatively by the helmet mounts, and thereby to the cushionA,B is not influencing the spring elementA,B so as to design such a hearing protectorin a way that the properties such as noise attenuation and wearing comfort are not in conflict with each other. In a second aspect, the present disclosure relates to a method of retrofitting a hearing protector with a spring elementA,B and a carrierA.B thereby providing the advantages and effects as laid out above.
