Abstract
A network configures (e.g., allocates) reservation channel resources within a reservation channel resource pool. In some cases, the time-frequency resources available to use for reservation channel transmissions are distributed periodically in a time-frequency domain. In other cases, the time-frequency resources available to use for reservation channel transmissions are distributed non-periodically in a time-frequency domain. For example, the time-frequency resources available to use for reservation channel transmissions could be distributed in a pre-determined manner (e.g., deterministically) within the time-frequency domain. Regardless of the type of distribution, the wireless communication devices of a vehicle ad-hoc network (VANET) are made aware of the distribution/location of the reservation channel resources so that the wireless communication devices can attempt to decode the reservation channel transmissions at the appropriate location (e.g., within the time-frequency domain).
