Abstract
A method for orchestrating deployment of mixed function-based and container-based software in a network is disclosed. The method is executed by a first node in cooperation with a second and a third node in response to a request to run software utilizing at least one infrastructure component and at least one function component. The second node manages the infrastructure component, while the third node manages the function-as-a-service (FaaS) platform. The first node transmits a request to the second node to deploy the infrastructure component and identifies at least one FaaS platform to be employed. The first node further transmits a request to the third node to configure the identified FaaS platform for execution of the software. Accordingly, the first node operates as an orchestrator for both infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) and FaaS resources.
