Abstract
In a spatial light modulation device, a detection unit detects light modulated by a spatial light modulation unit. An estimation unit estimates an incident position of the light onto the spatial light modulation unit on the basis of a detection result obtained by the detection unit. A phase pattern set by a pattern setting unit includes a phase pattern arranged to form a plurality of focused light spots on the detection unit using the light modulated in the set phase pattern. The detection unit detects intensity information of the focused light spots. The estimation unit estimates the incident position of the light onto the spatial light modulation unit on the basis of a comparison result obtained from the intensity information of the plurality of focused light spots detected by the detection unit.
