Abstract
Techniques involve detecting a mechanical play (W) in a system having a hydraulic valve and a valve drive for driving the hydraulic valve. A valve slide, which is driven by the valve drive of the hydraulic valve, is clamped with at least one return spring which is designed, in the case of a de-energized valve drive, to push the valve slide from any arbitrary valve slide position back into a neutral position of the valve slide.
