Abstract

In a general aspect, a carbon dioxide (CO) capture and separation system is presented. In some implementations, a carbon dioxide capture and separation system includes a slurry processing system fluidically connected to first and second gas-liquid contactors. The slurry processing system includes a gravity-driven separation unit. The slurry processing system is configured to receive a CO-rich slurry including precipitated reaction products from the first gas-liquid contactor, form a solid-enriched CO-rich slurry and a clarified CO-lean solution based on the CO-rich slurry. The first gas-liquid contactor is configured to receive a gaseous feed and receive the clarified CO-lean solution from the slurry processing system. The clarified CO-lean solution captures COfrom the gaseous feed in the first gas-liquid contactor to form the CO-rich slurry. The second gas-liquid contactor is configured to receive the solid-enriched CO-rich slurry and extract COfrom the solid-enriched CO-rich slurry.
